Helping others has always been more than a career for me. It is a calling. As an Army veteran, cancer survivor, and registered nurse with 13 years of clinical experience, I have dedicated my life to guiding people through important and sometimes overwhelming decisions.
I grew up in Missouri and have called this state home for 36 years. In 2001, I enlisted in the United States Army, where I served until 2009. Military service shaped how I approach everything, including the way I work with clients: with discipline, honesty, and a commitment to doing the job right.
In 2003, at 19 years old, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma while in the service. I went through a full course of ABVD chemotherapy and radiation and came out the other side. That experience changed me. I learned firsthand what it means to navigate a serious health crisis, and I watched my mom reduce her work hours to take care of me while our family absorbed costs that no insurance policy covered. Lost wages, home maintenance falling behind, the everyday expenses that pile up when your life is consumed by treatment. The medical bills got paid. The rest did not.
That experience is part of why I believe in comprehensive coverage planning as deeply as I do. Health insurance handles the clinical side. The financial ripple effects of a serious diagnosis require a different kind of planning, and that is a conversation I am uniquely qualified to have.
"Having faced my own serious health challenges, I understand firsthand how vital it is to have the right coverage and someone you can trust by your side. Now, as a licensed insurance agent, I consider it an honor to sit beside you and help you make confident choices about your healthcare in your golden years."
After leaving the Army, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and spent 13 years practicing across multiple specialties in the Kansas City area. That clinical background gives me a perspective on Medicare that most advisors simply do not have.
When I sit down with a client to compare Medicare plans, I am not reading from a script. I have been in the hospital rooms, the skilled nursing facilities, and the hospice settings. I know what happens when coverage decisions go wrong, and I know what comprehensive coverage looks like in practice.
After 13 years in clinical nursing, I transitioned into Medicare advising because I kept seeing the same thing: patients and families making coverage decisions without the information they needed, and paying the price for it later. A plan chosen based on a TV commercial. A Medicare Advantage network that did not include their specialist. A Medigap window missed because nobody explained the guaranteed issue rules.
As an independent advisor with Senior Benefit Services (SBS), I am not tied to any single carrier. I compare every plan available in your ZIP code, whether you are in Blue Springs, Overland Park, St. Joseph, or anywhere in the Kansas City area, and I walk you through the real trade-offs in plain language. My compensation comes directly from the carriers, so you pay the exact same premium whether you work with me or enroll on your own. My consultations are completely free.
I am licensed in both Missouri and Kansas, which means I serve both sides of the KC metro with the same independent approach.
Missouri has been my home for 36 years. I am blessed with a wonderful wife Whitney, three incredible sons, ages 19, 16, and 6, and our sweet golden retriever Sophia. We recently moved our oldest into college at the University of Missouri. When I am not working, you can usually find me enjoying time with my family, making memories big and small.
If you are turning 65 soon or already on Medicare and would like to review your coverage, I would be honored to help. Let's make sure your healthcare fits your life.
